Borey-Community

Lava turns every gated housing community (Borey) in Cambodia into its own mini food delivery network. Residents order from family restaurants inside their Borey, and the restaurants deliver, no outside drivers needed. Each Borey has a digital membership card (called a "token") that proves who belongs. This keeps orders local, builds trust, and lets the community vote on its own rules.

1. What is Borey?

A Borey is a private, gated residential estate, a self-contained neighborhood with 50 to 1,000+ homes, security gates, and often small commercial zones. Over 1,000 boreys exist across Phnom Penh, housing hundreds of thousands of middle-class families. Key characteristics ideal for delivery:

  • High population density

  • Controlled access

  • Short internal distances (200m–1 km)

  • Family-owned restaurants operating inside or adjacent

  • Strong community identity and trust

2. How Does It Work?

Step 1: Every Borey Gets Its Own Token

  • When a Borey joins Lava, it gets a unique digital membership card (we call it a token).

  • This card says: “You belong to this Borey.”

Step 2: Token Distribution (Membership)

Step 2: Residents & Restaurant Get Tokens

  • Residents: Get 10 tokens each when they sign up and prove they live there.

  • Restaurants: Get 20 tokens each when they prove they operate in the Borey.

  • Extra tokens can be earned later (e.g., 1 token per order).

Step 3: Orders Stay Inside the Borey

Only then can an order go through. No token match = no order.

A Day in the Life:

  1. Sokha (resident) has 12 tokens (10 from joining + 2 from past orders).

  2. She opens Lava → sees only the 3 local restaurants.

  3. Orders fried rice from Mom’s Kitchen (they have 20 tokens).

  4. App checks:

    • Sokha has Borey token → Yes

    • Mom’s Kitchen has Borey token → Yes

  5. Order approved → Mom’s son delivers in 8 minutes.

  6. Sokha earns +1 token → now has 13.

4. Community Voting with Tokens

Your tokens = your voice. Residents and restaurants vote on:

Proposal Type

Example

New Restaurant Approval

“Allow Uncle’s Coffee to join?”

Delivery Rules

“Extend hours to 10 PM?”

Community Events

“Host monthly food fair?”

More tokens = stronger voice

  • 15 tokens = 15 votes

  • 25 tokens = 25 votes

Proposals pass with a simple majority. Execution is automated via smart contracts.

As a result, everyone gets a say & decisions are made together.
